RESOLUTION HONORING LEAH HARRIS

RESOLUTION #03-023

WHERAS, Leah Harris served as the Associate Director of the Michigan Council on Crime and Delinquency since 1999; and

WHEREAS, Leah Harris devoted her life to improving the lives of children and assisting communities in addressing crime and justice issues; and

WHEREAS, she helped lead efforts to implement balanced and restorative justice in Michigan; and

WHEREAS, she provided technical support and expertise to Ingham County and the Ingham County/City of Lansing Youth Violence Prevention Coalition; and

WHEREAS, Leah co-authored "A Caring and Safe Community for Children and Families" and "The Ingham County/City of Lansing Five Year Plan to Reduce Violence by and Toward Children" along with the Ingham County Community Corrections Plan in 1990-1991; and

WHEREAS, Leah was committed to bringing the community and individuals together to build competence in young people, to make the community safe and to restore the victims of crimes.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners hereby honor the memory of Leah Harris for her dedication and devotion to the children of the community and her tireless efforts and contributions toward juvenile justice and delinquency prevention.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the County of Ingham and its citizens have benefited immensely from the expertise and compassion of Leah Harris and she will be greatly missed.
